Harris Garrard Academy -admissions consultation
The Governing Body of Harris Garrard Academy is consulting on a change it proposes to introduce for admissions to the secondary section of the Academy from September 2019.
The Academy - as did the former school - uses banded admissions to ensure all abilities are admitted. The number of places in each band is designed to produce a range of abilities that mirrors the national average of abilities. The admissions arrangements inherited from the previous school do not adequately define the number of places in each band and how spare places are allocated to bands. The Academy will now define that and allocate all children to bands including those transferring within the Academy.
The reason for this change is to clarify for parents how banding will work if the Academy is oversubscribed as forecast in 2019/20
