Temporary Closure of Public Footpath 15, Wool
DORSET COUNTY COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath 15, Wool between East Burton Road and the A352, Dorchester Road, Wool (across the railway track), a distance of approximately 20 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into operation on Monday 4 December 2017 for a period of 26 weeks, until Sunday 3 June 2018. But it may be extended, with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
This closure is required whilst the application to divert the existing footpath level crossing onto and overthe new stepped footbridge is being processed.

Notice of Modification Order Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 Dorset County Council County of Dorset Definitive Map and Statement of Rights of Way Dorset County Council (A Footpath from Verlands Road to the A353 Preston Road, Weymouth at Preston) Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2017
The above Order, made on 10 November 2017, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding a Footpath in the Weymouth and Portland Borough:-
From its junction with the eastern end of Verlands Road, south of Pickwick at SY 70728319, east along a compacted tarmac/stone/gravel surfaced path, passing to the north of 30 Verlands Road to SY 70738319 and continuing east along the path (via SY 70768319) to the field boundary at SY 70808320. Continue east, entering the field and across a grass surfaced path, running parallel with the southern fence line to the field boundary at SY 70928321. Turn east south east, down a hill (known as Winslow Hill) and across a field to its junction with Footpath 27 and the A353 Preston Road at SY 71128317. The width varies: 6.25 metres at SY 70728319, 7.8 metres at SY 70738319, 3.7 metres at SY 70768319, 3.6 metres at SY 70808320, 2 metres at SY 70928321, narrowing to 1.2 metres at SY 71128317. Limitation: Gate at SY 70928321.

Any representation or objection relating to the Order must be sent in writing to Phil Hobson, Senior Definitive Map Officer, Dorset Highways, Environment and the Economy Directorate, Dorset County Council, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1XJ (Ref: RW/T494) not later than 5 January 2018, and applicants are requested to state the grounds on which it is made. Any letters received will be made available for public inspection. If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Dorset County Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs may itself confirm the Order.
