Notice ID: BR3354671

Notice effective from
16th November 2017 to 16th December 2017

YORKSHIRE DALES NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) (FOOTPATH NO. 3 (Part), GIGGLESWICK) ORDER 2017, No. 2 Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 -Section 14(1) (as amended)
Notice is hereby given that the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority has made an Order, the effect of which is to prohibit any pedestrian from proceeding along part of Footpath No. 3 in the Parish of Giggleswick in the district of Craven for a distance of approximately 30 metres from 15 November, 2017 until 25 April, 2018 inclusive.
The closure will be put into effect when necessary by means of the erection of notices and signs. It is envisaged that the works will be undertaken within 6 months.
The Order is necessary for reasons of public safety due to the collapse of a 6 foot high drystone wall which supports the structure of the footpath. The edge of the footpath is subsiding due to the collapse of the wall and it is not considered possible to use the path safely in its current condition.
The alternative route to be used during the closure period will be as follows:-From the point of closure at Grid Reference SD 8122 6420 in a south, south westerly direction to join the county road (B6480), following the pavement in a south easterly direction for approximately 165 metres to the junction of a footpath at "The Mains" county road bearing north, north west for approximately 200 metres before turning onto Footpath No. 3 between the houses, west, south westerly to the wall corner before turning south to point of closure at Grid
Reference SD 8121 6423 and return.
