Reduction In Admission Number Charmouth Primary School

Notice ID: MF0245844

Notice effective from
1st November 2017 to 1st December 2017

Dorset County Council Reduction In Admission Number Charmouth Primary School
By virtue of Section 89 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, Dorset County Council is required to consult annually on admission arrangements including Admission Numbers (AN). In October 2001, the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) issued new guidance for measuring the capacity of all schools. This guidance describes the method for assessing the "net capacity" (NCA) of schools and is now the only technique for determining the AN for schools. Admission authorities may fix an AN for a relevant group that is lower or higher than the NCA method suggests. However, where a proposed AN is lower information must be published to give parents the opportunity to object. This notice relates to proposals to set ANs lower than the NCA has identified.

Following consultation on the AN for schools, Dorset County Council, as Local Authority, has decided to proceed with the following proposal. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, in accordance with Regulation 9 (5) of The Education (Admission Arrangements) (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2002 Dorset County Council, intends to set a AN for Charmouth Primary School which is lower than the level which has been identified following an assessment of the accommodation using the NCA method. The proposed AN will apply to admissions to the relevant age group (the normal year of entry) commencing from the beginning of the school year 2019/20 and for any subsequent school year. Details are as follows:
School
Current AN
NCA (as at Nov 2011)
Proposed AN
Charmouth Primary School
25
196
15
The reason for proposing lower AN is to set a level which more accurately reflects the number of actual admissions and enables the governing body of Charmouth Primary School to plan more effectively for organisational and budgetary needs. Admissions to the schools will be in accordance with the school's admissions policy. Within six weeks after the date of publication of this notice, any person may submit their comments, both positive and negative,to Ed Denham, School Organisation, Dorset County Council, County Hall, Dorchester, DTI IJX Tel: 01305 221939 Email: schoolorganisation@dorsetcc.goc.uk
NICKJARMAN, Interim Director for Children's Services, Dorset County.
