(OXFORD CENTRAL AREA) (TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) (EXPERIMENTAL) ORDER 2017
NOTICE is given that on 13 October 2017 Oxfordshire County Council made the above experimental Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling power.The effect of the order, which comes into force on 23 October 2017 is:
1. To remove taxis and private hire vehicles from proceeding or stopping in Queen Street.
2. To enable taxis to enter Cornmarket Street from Carfax, turn before the Clarendon Centre and wait in the taxi bays close to Carfax - between 6pm and 10am only.Rising bollards are planned to limit vehicle access.
3. Disabled person vehicles will not be permitted to enter Cornmarket Street.
Adecision ofthe proposal to remove buses as well from Queen Street has been deferred.
The Experimental Order will operate for a maximum period of 18 months. If the provisions of the experimental order are made permanent, the measures will be incorporated into The Oxfordshire County Council (The City of Oxford) (Central Area) (Traffic Management) (Consolidation) Order 2003 (as amended). This Order contains provisions allowing the Director for Communities (or Delegated Officer) to modify or suspend the order or any provisions of the Order (if appropriate) in accordance with Section 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Any person may object to the making of the experimental Order for the purposes of such indefinite continuation within a period of 6 months (a) beginning with the day on which the experimental Order comes into force or (b) if that Order is varied by any order made by the Council or modified by the Director for Environment and Economy of the Council pursuant to Section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the day on which the variation or modification comes into force.
Documents giving more detailed particulars of the order are available for public inspection at www.oxfordshire.gov.uk, and at County Hall, New Road OX1 1ND from 8.30am to 4.30pm weekdays. Any objections or other representations, should be sent in writing to the Director for Infrastructure Delivery (ref: AK/.Queen Street) at the address given below no later than the 22 April 2018.The Council will consider all representations received in response to this Notice and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.
