THE A64 TRUNK ROAD (HOPGROVE ROUNDABOUT TO SANDY LANE JUNCTION)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A64 Trunk Road, in the District of Ryedale and the City of York, to enable carriageway resurfacing, road marking, stud renewal and associated works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Monday 6 November 2017 for 2 months or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be to impose, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, a temporary 40mph and at times a 10mph speed restriction on the A64 eastbound and westbound carriageways from 170 metres south of Sand Hutton Junction to 32 metres north of Sandy Lane Junction, a distance of
4060 metres.
It will be necessary, between 8pm and 6am, to:
(i) close the A64 eastbound and westbound carriageways from its junction with Hopgrove Roundabout to its junction with Scotchman Lane, a distance of 7403 metres;
(ii) close the bus stop areas adjacent to the A64 eastbound carriageway approximately 760 metres east and 1448 metres east of Towthorpe Lane Junction;
(iii) close the bus stop area adjacent to the A64 eastbound carriageway approximately 15 metres east of Whinny Lane Junction;
(iv) close the bus stop areas adjacent to the A64 westbound carriageway approximately 75 metres west of Scotchman Lane Junction;
(v) close the bus stop areas adjacent to the A64 westbound carriageway approximately 18 metres west, 1448 metres west and 2007 metres west of Whinny Lane Junction;
(vi) ban vehicles from entering of leaving the A64 eastbound carriageway at its junction with North Lane, Towthorpe Moor Lane and Whinny Lane; and
(vii) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the A64 westbound carriageway at its junction with Barr Lane, Common Lane, Sand Hutton Lane and Whinny Lane.
It will also be necessary to close, 24 hours a day, for the duration of the works, the laybys adjacent to the A64:
(i) eastbound carriageway approximately 1448 east and 5472 metres east of Hopgrove Roundabout; and
(ii) westbound carriageway approximately 1931 meters west and 2575 metres west of Scotchman Lane Junction.
Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibition (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles, vehicles being used in connection with the said works or winter maintenance purposes). Access will be maintained at all times to premises and property which are accessible from, and only from, the A64. The Order comes into force on 5 November 2017 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
