OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (ABINGDON MARATHON) (SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2017
NOTICE is given that on 9 October 2017 Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order will be in effect for the morning of Sunday 22 October 2017.

The order is to facilitate the holding of the Abingdon Marathon based at Tilsley Park, which is promoted on behalf of the Abingdon Marathon Committee by Dene Stringfellow 2 School Road, West Hanney, Oxfordshire OX 12 0LA.The Council is satisfied that the event cannot be held wholly off road and that it is in the interest of road safety that vehicular traffic should be temporarily restricted.The effect of the order is to prohibit vehicles:

a) between approximately 08.30 and 09.30hrs from using the section of Dunmore Road eastwards from Wootton Road roundabout towards Tilsley Park (northern lane) and Twelve Acre Drive (northern lane between Oxford Road and Audlett Drive/ Radley Road roundabouts) including closure of the roundabout junction of the Oxford Road roundabout with Dunmore Road and Twelve Acre Drive, and the section of Radley Road eastwards fromAudlett Drive toThrupp Lane, Radley;
b) northbound only prohibited between approximately 08.30 and !3.!5hrs, Milton to Drayton to road -Milton Road roundabout junction with High Street & Sutton Road northwards to the B40I6 Drayton Road;
c) Brook Street, Sutton Courtenay, the junction with Church Street & High Street will be closed from 08.30 to 13.15hrs;
d) Drayton Road B40I6 will be closed at junction of Milton Road from 8.30 to 13.15
e) between approximately 11.00hrs and 14.00hrs from using the section of Dunmore Road from the B4017 Wootton Road eastwards toTilsley Park.Traffic from side roads will be required to turn left only during the closures.

Exemptions will be included for access, emergency services, event safety vehicles and any on-going emergency works to roads or mains services in or adjoining the roads.

Alternative routes for traffic affected by the closure are; For westbound traffic via Whites Lane, Radley, The Avenue and Kennington Road, Kennington, Hinksey Hill, Foxcombe Road & Fox Lane, Boars Hill, B4017 Wootton Road, to Abingdon Bath Street, Stratton Way,Vineyard, Radley Road and Audlett Drive. For eastbound traffic via Audlett Drive, Radley Road, Vineyard, Stert Street, High Street, Stratton Way, Bath Street, Wootton Road, B4017 Wootton, Fox Lane & Foxcombe Road, Boars Hill, Hinksey Hill, Kennington Road and The Avenue,and Whites Lane, Radley. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposed Order are available for public inspection at County Hall, New Road, Oxford OX1 1ND from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, and at Abingdon Library, The Charter, Abingdon from 9am to 7pm Monday to Wednesday and Friday, from 9am to 1pm on Thursday and from 9am to 4.30 pm on Saturday.
