WANDSWORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL RAVENSTONE SCHOOL

Notice ID: SUT0297987

Notice effective from
14th September 2017 to 14th October 2017

WANDSWORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL RAVENSTONE SCHOOL
Notice is given in accordance with Section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Wandsworth Borough Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to Ravenstone Community Primary School, Ravenstone Street, London, SW12 9SS, from 1st April 2018.

It is proposed to open a resource base for up to 20 pupils aged 3 to 11 with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and announces the following detailed proposals for these purposes:

i) the children in the resource base will be included in the School's overall admission number;
ii) Wandsworth Local Authority will be the admissions authority. Admission to the base will be made on the basis of a child's educational needs as identified in their Education Health and Care Plan. The School's normal admission criteria will not apply;
iii) pupils in the base will be on the roll of Ravenstone School and the School will be responsible for their educational provision and the management of the base;
iv) there will be a pilot base provision from September 2017, with pupils admitted to the base from November 2017;
v) Wandsworth Council has agreed capital funding for a building programme for the base, at a cost of up to £188,000. Revenue funding for the pupils placed in the base will be provided by place funding and individual pupil top-ups from the High Needs Block within the Dedicated Schools Grant.

This proposal will address a shortfall in provision for children with ASD who would benefit from a mainstream curriculum and environment, but who need additional specialist support over and above that found in a mainstream primary school.

This Notice is an extract from the complete proposal. Copies of the complete proposal can be obtained from Special Services Planning, THE4, Wandsworth Town Hall, Wandsworth High Street, SW18 2PU. Email: csssp@wandsworth.gov.uk or from the Council website https://goo.gl/p952mY.

Within four weeks from the date of publication of this proposal (that is not later than 12th October 2017), any person may object to or make comments on the proposal by sending them to the Director of Children's Services, Special Services Planning, THE4, Wandsworth Town Hall, Wandsworth High Street, SW18 2PU. Email: csssp@wandsworth.gov.uk.
