Dow Corning Prepares for Maintenance Turnaround
Employees at Dow Corning in Barry are beginning preparations this week for its maintenance shutdown. The shutdown will see the site stop a significant proportion of its processes to facilitate inspections and overhaul work that will allow the plant to continue to run reliably.
From Thursday 21st September, machinery and equipment on the 160-acre site will be emptied, cleaned and thoroughlyinspected aspartofthe company's commitment to safety, which in recent years has seen the Barry site win 8 consecutive gold awards from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
The work is expected to last four 4 weeks (with the busiest period being the 21st September to the 12th October). During this time the level of traffic is likely to increase and neighbours may experience some additional noise.
