Temporary Closure of Policeman's Lane & Watery Lane, Upton

DORSET COUNTY COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Policeman's Lane and Watery Lane, Upton in two phases: firstly that part of Policeman's Lane between its junctions with the B3067, Dorchester Road and Poppy Close; and secondly Policeman's Lane from Poppy Close southwards and eastwards into and up to Number 37, Watery Lane. The order is needed in order to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into operation on Monday 25 September 2017 and will remain in force for 18 months. However it is anticipated that the works will be completed in 7 weeks. The road will first be closed at the northern end of Policeman's Lane (for approximately 3 weeks) and when works have been completed the closure will be moved to the southern end. This order will enable Mackoy Limited to carry out highway works in connection with the new development.

Alternative vehicular routes will be signed using Watery Lane, Sea View Road and the B3067, Dorchester Road. Access will be maintained for all residents of Policemans Lane and Poppy Close from one side of the closure or the other as indicated by the traffic signs on site.
