A31 TRUNK ROAD (HAMPSHIRE AND DORSET) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A31 Trunk Road in the Counties of Hampshire and Dorset, and the Unitary Authority of Poole, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to authorise:

1. The phased overnight closure of:

a) both carriageways of the A31 between Cadnam Interchange (M27 Junction 1) and Bere Regis Roundabout (A35), and all of the slip roads leading to and from these lengths of carriageway;
b) all of the side roads at junction with the carriageways described in 1. a) above; and
c) all of the bus stops adjacent to the carriageways described in 1. a) above.

2. the 24 hour closure of all lay-bys adjacent to the carriageways described in 1. a) above.

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake carriageway works and all associated works. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 7 months starting on or after Sunday 17th September 2017. The overnight closures would take place between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).
The Order would come into force on 15 September 2017 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using the A31, A35, A36, A341, A348, A349, A350, A338, B3073, Wimborne Road West, and Wimborne Road East. The routes would vary in accordance with the closures in place. The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
