ENVIRONMENT AGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTENTION NOT TO PREPARE AN ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT (Regulation 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (Land Drainage Improvement Works) Regulations 1999 as amended by SI 2005/1399 and SI 2006/618 Romsey FAS - Water Vole Habitat Creation
The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to the flood defences on a drainage ditch which forms part of the River Test in Romsey between National Grid Reference: SU3465020714 and SU3479820701, a distance of ~0.2 kilometres. The proposed improvement works will involve the following:
200m length of ditch habitat will be enhanced for water voles. Including minor pruning of vegetation, erection of stock proof fencing, installation of coir rolls, re-profiling of banks and, de-silting of parts of the ditch.
The Environment Agency considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them. Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed improvement works should do so, in writing, to the address specified below, within 28 days of the date of publication of this notice.
