(OXFORDSHIRE 7.5TONNE MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT RESTRICTION) (AMENDMENT NO.6) ORDER 20**
Notice is hereby given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The order further amends the Oxfordshire County Council (Oxfordshire 7.5 tonne Maximum Gross Weight Restriction) Order 2007 with the effect of preventing heavy goods traffic using the A361 Burford High Street as a through route for north-south traffic. The aim is to prohibit vehicles exceeding 7.5 tonnes maximum gross weight travelling between Burford and Fulbrook roundabouts (A40 to A424). Access only for HGVs to make deliveries etc. will be permitted (as well as exemptions for emergency services and vehicles used for roads and utilities works).
There will be advanced alternative route signage for HGVs to use the A44 north-westwards from the A34, the A40 westwards from theA34,and the A429 from the A40 at Northleach (Gloc.) northwards to Stow on the Wold and vice versa.
The County Council is satisfied under Section 3 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, that on the grounds of reducing danger to persons or traffic, preventing damage to roads or buildings on or near the road, facilitating the passage of traffic, and preserving or improving amenities of the area by restricting the amount of heavy goods vehicles, that such heavy vehicles should be prohibited. Documents giving more details of the proposal are available for public inspection online by visiting https://consultations.oxfordshire.gov.uk or at County Hall, New Road, Oxford OX1 1ND from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, and at Burford Town Council, TheTolsey, 126 High Street, OX18 4QU from 1 - 5pm and 6 - 7pm Tuesday; 10am to 1pm Thursday; 10am to 1pm and 2 - 5.30pm Friday; and 9.30am to 1pm Saturday. Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in writing (quoting Ref: JW-WeightLimit) to the address below by 15 September 2017. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response to this Notice.Theymaybe disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.
