TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an Order on the 10th day of August 2017 in respect of each of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3) and (4). Additionally, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of each of the locations numbered (5), (6), (7), (8) and (9). (1) VARIOUS ROADS, YORK This Order prohibits, where necessary, vehicles from proceeding and waiting at any time in the whole or in any length of a road listed in the schedule below (restricted roads) between such times and on such dates during the validity of the Order as shall be determined by the Council in order to safely and effectively carry out carriageway resurfacing works. Relevant times and dates will be notified in writing to occupiers of premises adjacent to a restricted roads not less than 48 hours before the said prohibition comes into effect in that road. The Order will commence on 14th day of August 2017 and expire on 13th day of September 2017 or when all works have been completed whichever is the earlier. An alternative route for diverted traffic for the respective locations will be signed where applicable/appropriate. It is envisaged that the works at each location will be undertaken between 9.15am and 5pm during the dates listed in the Schedule below.

SCHEDULE Winchester Avenue, York - 14th August 2017 – 16th August 2017 Hunters Way, York - 14th August 2017 – 25th August 2017 Lady Hamilton Gardens, York - 15th August 2017 – 17th August 2017 Count de Burgh Terrace, York - 16th August 2017 – 23rd August 2017 Byland Avenue, York - 17th August 2017 – 22nd August 2017 Dodsworth Avenue, York - 29th August 2017 – 13th September 2017

(2) STRENSALL NO. 2 LEVEL CROSSING, STRENSALL This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding through the Strensall No. 2 Level Crossing on Moor Lane/Princess Road, Strensall (closed road) during the period when track maintenance works are being undertaken thereon that period commencing at 0930hrs and ending at 1430hrs on the 16th day of August 2017 or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be available via Moor Lane, Ox Carr Lane, York Road, Princess Road and vice versa.
(3) PARLIAMENT STREET & MARKET STREET, YORK This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in (i) Parliament Street, York and (ii) Market Street, York between its junctions with Feasegate and Parliament Street (closed road) during the period when nearby building maintenance works being undertaken adjacent to the closed road that period commencing at 0500hrs and ending at 0900hrs on the 13th day of August 2017 or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.
(4) GERMANY LANE, FULFORD This Order prohibits pedestrians and vehicles from proceeding in that length of footpath, known as Germany Lane between its junctions with Fulford Footpath No. 5/5/10 and Cross Lane, Fulford (closed footpath) during the period when new drainage works are being undertaken thereon that period commencing at 0001hrs on the 14th day of August 2017 and ending at 2400hrs on the 6th day of October 2017 (works period) or at a time and date when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians and vehicles will be signed during the works period.
(5) GROVES LANE, YORK This Order will prohibit pedestrians and vehicles from proceeding in Groves Lane, York between its junctions with Penley’s Grove Street and Lockwood Street (closed footpath) during the period commencing at 0001hrs on the 21st day of August 2017 and ending at 2400hrs on the 25th day of August 2017 (works period) or on a date when new electricity connection works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians and vehicles will be available during the works period
(6) MELROSEGATE, YORK This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in Melrosegate, York between its junctions with Hull Road and Alcuin Avenue (closed road) during the period commencing at 1900hrs on the 24th day of August 2017 and ending at 2400hrs on the 25th day of August 2017 (works period) or at time when carriageway remedial works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the closure will only be put into effect during overnight periods between 1900hrs and 2300hrs during the works period. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.
(7) GREEN DYKES LANE, YORK This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of Green Dykes Lane, York between its junctions with Hull Road and Thief Lane (closed road) during the period commencing at 0001hrs on the 29th day of August 2017 and ending at 2400hrs on the 10th day of September 2017 or at time when gas main replacement works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. During the closure period vehicle movements between University Road and Thief Lane will be maintained via temporary traffic lights. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.
(8) MARKET STREET, YORK This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in Market Street, York (closed road) during the period commencing at 1800hrs on the 30th day of August 2017 and ending at 0600hrs on the 31th day of August 2017 (work period) or at time when carriageway reinstatement works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the ‘ONE WAY’ direction of traffic flow in Market Street & Feasegate is suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said roads when the closure is put into effect. An alternative route for divert traffic will be available during the works period.
(9) STRENSALL NO. 1 LEVEL CROSSING, STRENSALL This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding through the Strensall No. 1 Level Crossing on York Road, Strensall (closed road) during the period commencing at 2300hrs on 30th day of August 2017 and ending at 0600hrs on the 31st day of August 2017 or at time when track maintenance works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be available via York Road, Ox Carr Lane, Moor Lane, Princess Road, York Road and vice versa.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
