A35 TRUNK ROAD (HONITON TO BERE REGIS) TEMPORARY RESTRICTION

HIGHWAYS ENGLAND COMPANY LIMITED ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)(a) A35 TRUNK ROAD (HONITON TO BERE REGIS) TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2017 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the A35 trunk road between Honiton and Bere Regis in the Counties of Devon and Dorset, to enable resurfacing, sweeping, road marking, drainage, loop cutting, bridge works, survey work, sign maintenance, lighting and electrical works, landscaping and any other associated maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to take place overnight (8.00pm - 6.00am) at various times within a period of 14 months commencing on or after Saturday 9 September 2017. The effect of the Order would be to:
(a) authorise the overnight closure (8.00pm - 6.00am) of lengths of the A35, at different times, between its junction with Honiton High Street (Kings Road roundabout) and its junction with the A31 (Bere Regis roundabout);
(b) authorise the overnight closure (8.00pm - 6.00am) of the slip roads leading to and from both carriageways of the A35 described in (a) above;
(c) authorise the closure of all laybys adjacent to the A35 situated between locations described at (a) above;
(d) authorise the overnight closure (8.00pm - 6.00am) of:
(i) the A35 Abbey Gate link road, Axminster;
(ii) the Max Gate link road, Dorchester.
(e) impose a 50 miles per hour speed limit on:
(i) both carriageways of the A35 from 150 metres west of its junction with the B3261 Trafalgar Way to 110 metres east of its junction with the B3261 Trafalgar Way;
(ii) both carriageways of the A35 from 65 metres west of its junction with Elsdon’s Lane to 528 metres east of its junction with Elsdon’s Lane;
(iii) both carriageways of the A35 from 470 metres west of Berne Lane junction to 100 metres west of Berne Lane junction;
(iv) both carriageways of the A35 from 200 metres east of its junction with Star Lane to 420 metres east of its junction with Star Lane;
(v) both carriageways of the A35 from 195 metres west of its junction with the B3162 West Road to 180 metres east of its junction with the B3162 West Road.
(vi) both carriageways of the A35 from 690 metres east of its junction with Spyway Road to 230 metres east of Portway junction;
(vii) both carriageways of the A35 from 400 metres west of Chalk Pit Lane junction to 70 metres west of Long Bredy Hut Lane junction;
(viii) both carriageways of the A35 from 335 metres west of Cuckoo Lane junction to 170 metres east of its junction with Bere Regis;
(f) impose a 40 miles per hour speed limit on:
(i) both carriageways of the A35 from Kings Road roundabout to 150 metres west of its junction with the B3261 Trafalgar Way;
(ii) both carriageways of the A35 from 110 metres east of its junction with the B3261 Trafalgar Way to 65 metres west of its junction with Elsdon’s Lane;
(iii) both carriageways of the A35 from 528 metres east of its junction with Elsdon’s Lane to 470 metres west of Berne Lane junction;
(iv) both carriageways of the A35 from 100 metres west of Berne Lane junction to 200 metres east of its junction with Star Lane;
(v) both carriageways of the A35 from 420 metres east of its junction with Star Lane to 195 metres west of its junction with the B3162 West Road;
(vi) both carriageways of the A35 from 180 metres east of its junction with the B3162 West Road to 690 metres east of its junction with Spyway Road;
(vii) both carriageways of the A35 from 230 metres east of Portway junction to 400 metres west of Chalk Pit Lane junction;
(viii) both carriageways of the A35 from 70 metres west of Long Bredy Hut Lane junction to 335 metres west of Cuckoo Lane junction;
(ix) both carriageways of the A35 from 170 metres east of its junction with Bere Regis to Bere Regis roundabout;
(g) impose a 10 miles per hour speed limit on the A35 while convoy working is taking place on the A35 over the same length as described at (a) above; During the overnight closures described at (a), (b) and (d) above, traffic will be diverted on suitable alternative routes by agreement with the local highway authority. They will vary depending on the closure in place and will be clearly signed Access to and from premises accessible from, and only from, the lengths of carriageway to be closed will be permitted. The temporary mandatory speed limits, overnight carriageway closures, overnight slip road closures, layby closures, overnight convoy working and diversion routes (which will not apply to emergency service, traffic officer, winter maintenance vehicles or works vehicles) would be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works, The Order would come into force on 2 September 2017 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
