ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE M66 MOTORWAY
[JUNCTION 2 NORTHBOUND & SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS & SLIP ROADS] [TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M66 Motorway in the Boroughs of Bury and Rossendale, in the Counties of Greater Manchester and Lancashire, to enable resurfacing works, replacement of road markings and road studs, and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety. The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M66 Motorway:

i) the northbound carriageway, from the last point where the junction 2 exit slip road leaves the motorway, to its end point, where the M66 carriageway joins the A56 carriageway;
ii) the southbound carriageway, from its start point, where the A56 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 2 entry slip road joins the carriageway;
iii) the M66 northbound exit slip road at junction 1;
iv) the M66 southbound entry slip road at junction 1;
v) the M66 northbound entry slip road at junction 2;
vi) the M66 southbound exit slip road at junction 2;

The prohibitions are expected to take place overnight between 2000 hours and 0500 hours (continuing to 0700 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Wednesday 20 September 2017 and ending on Friday 3 November 2017. However, the works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or continue until completed. Diversions via alternative junctions of the M66 and local roads will be well signed. The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
