ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14(1) (a) THE A36 TRUNK ROAD (WHADDON) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (a) intends to make an Order on the A36 trunk road near Salisbury in the County of Wiltshire to allow gas pipe replacement works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to take place commencing on or after 28 August 2017 and be completed by 15 September 2017. The effect of the Order would be to:

(a) impose a mandatory 40 mph speed limit on:

(i) the A36 northbound from 600 metres south of the exit slip road at Whaddon Interchange to the exit slip road;
(ii) the A36 south bound from 600 metres north of the southbound entry slip road to 600 metres south of the northbound exit slip road at Whaddon Interchange;
(iii)the northbound exit slip road at Whaddon
Interchange;

(b) impose a mandatory 50 mph speed limit on the A36 southbound from 1200 metres north to 600 metres north of the southbound entry slip road at Whaddon Interchange;
(c) authorise the overnight closure(20.00 -06.00) of the northbound exit slip road at Whaddon Interchange.

During the closure described above traffic would be diverted via the A36 northbound and Southampton Road. The closure, speed limit (which would not apply to emergency service or special forces vehicles) and diversion route would be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works. The Order would come into force on 26 August 2017 and have amaximum duration of 18 months.
