ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14
THE M56 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 10-11 EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS AND SLIP ROADS) [TEMPORARY PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M56 Motorway in the Boroughs of Warrington, Halton, and Cheshire West and Chester in the County of Cheshire to enable renewal of road markings and road studs, joint sealing works, inlaid crack sealant works, and other general maintenance work; to be carried out in safety. The Order will:

(a) impose a 50 mph speed restriction on the following sections of the M56 Motorway:

i. the eastbound carriageway, from the centreline of Chester Road Expressway Bridge, to a point 200 metres east of the centreline of Mosswood Hall Overbridge;
ii. the westbound carriageway, from a point 100 metres east of the centreline of Arley Lane Bridge, to a point 200 metres west of the centreline of Sandy Lane Footbridge;
iii. the eastbound and westbound entry slip roads at junction 10;
iv. the eastbound and westbound entry slip roads at junction 11.

(b) ban all traffic from the following sections of the M56 Motorway:

i. the eastbound carriageway, from the centreline of Sandy Lane Footbridge, to the centreline of Mosswood Hall Overbridge;
ii. the westbound carriageway, from the centreline of Mosswood Hall Overbridge, to the centreline of Sandy Lane Footbridge;
iii. the eastbound and westbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 10;
iv. the eastbound and westbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 11:

(c) allow the hardshoulder adjacent to the sections of the M56 Motorway described at (b) (i), and (ii) above to be used as running lanes. A 50 mph speed limit will be in force on the hardshoulder when used as a running lane.

The restrictions and prohibitions are expected to be in place overnight between 2000 hours and 0500 hours (continuing to 0700 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) starting on Tuesday 12 September and ending on Friday 20 October 2017. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or continue until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M56 Motorway will be well signed. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will be indicated by traffic signs.
