Surrey 20th July 2017
UK Power Networks has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under Section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 for retrospective consent for carrying out emergency restricted works on Epsom Common. The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The works involved repairing a series of cable joints on an existing 33,000 volt underground electricity cable to ensure the security of the supply in the area was not affected. The works occupied approximately 35m in length.
Fencing was erected to secure the work area around the affected cable route. Standard panel heras fencing was used to secure two work areas of 180m2 and 200m2. Once the works were finished and the section of cable route reinstated, the fencing was removed.
