THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (GRETABRIDGE JUNCTION TO MELSONBY JUNCTION) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the District of Richmondshire, to enable surface dressing works to be carried out in safety. The works areexpected to start on Monday 7th August 2017 for 4days, or until completed. The effect of the Order will be to impose, 24 hours aday,attimes during the works, atemporary 40mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways between Greta Bridge Junction and Melsonby Junction, adistance of 12500 metres. It will also be necessary,between 7:30am and 4:30pm, at times during the works, to:
(i) close the gaps in the central reservation opposite the B6274 leading northwards to West Lane and the B6274 leading southwards to Forcett Lane;
(ii) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the A66 westbound carriageway at its junction with New Lane, Low Lane and Forcett Lane; and
(iii) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the A66 eastbound carriageway at its junction with West Lane.
During the junction closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. Traffic management will be in force 24 hours aday and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance). This Order comes into force on 6August2017 and has a maximum duration of 18 months.
