ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE M61 MOTORWAY [JUNCTION 2 SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY & LINK ROADS) & A580 (WESTBOUND) & A666 (NORTHBOUND LINK ROADS) [TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M61 Motorway and the A580 and A666 Trunk Roads in the Borough of Bolton, and City of Salford, in the County of Greater Manchester, to enable drainage and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety.
that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M61 Motorway and the A580 and A666 Trunk Roads in the Borough of Bolton, and City of Salford, in the County of Greater Manchester, to enable drainage and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety.
The Order will ban all traffic on the following sections of the M61 Motorway:

i. the southbound carriageway, from the last point where the Junction 2 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the Junction 2 entry slip road joins the carriageway;
ii. the M61 southbound to the A580 eastbound link roads, from the last point where the M61 link road leaves the carriageway, and the last point where the southbound Junction 2 link road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the link road joins the A580 eastbound carriageway;
iii.. the A580 westbound to the M61 and A666 northbound link roads, from the last point where the A580 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the link road joins the M61 northbound carriageway, and the first point where the link road joins the M61 Junction 2 spur to the A666 northbound carriageway. The prohibitions are expected to take place overnight between 2000 hours and 0500 hours (continuing to 0700 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings), during a period starting on Monday 21 August 2017 and ending on Friday 10 November 2017. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights, or continue until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M61 and M60 Motorways, A580 Trunk Road, and local roads will be well signed. Running lanes will be maintained on the M61 and M60 Motorway, and on the A580 and A666 Trunk Roads, during Bank Holiday and event periods.

The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance or traffic officer vehicles, and will only apply during such times and to such extent as will be indicated by traffic signs.
