ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14 THE A590 TRUNK ROAD [LIGHTBURN ROAD TO DALTONGATE) [TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the A590 Trunk Road in the District of South Lakeland in the County of Cumbria to enable resurfacing, replacement of road markings, road studs and signs, bridge, lighting and survey works, and electrical loop installation works; to be carried out in safety. The Order will:

that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the A590 Trunk Road in the District of South Lakeland in the County of Cumbria to enable resurfacing, replacement of road markings, road studs and signs, bridge, lighting and survey works, and electrical loop installation works; to be carried out in safety. The Order will:

i. impose a 10 mph speed restriction on the eastbound and westbound dual carriageway and single carriageway sections of the A590, from a point 180 metres west of the centreline of Daltongate, to a point 50 metres east of the centreline of Lightburn Road. The 10 mph speed restriction will apply for safety reasons, through the works area when traffic will be escorted by a highway maintenance vehicle;
ii. ban all traffic on the A590 eastbound and westbound carriageways, from a point 50 metres west of the centreline of Daltongate, to the point where the A590 meets the easterly kerb of Lightburn Road. During the closure of the eastbound section of the carriageway, eastbound traffic will be directed to cross over into the westbound carriageway where a contraflow system will be in place. One lane of traffic will still be able to run westbound on the westbound carriageway, whilst one lane of traffic will temporarily be allowed to run eastbound. Likewise, during the closure of the westbound section of the carriageway, westbound traffic will be directed to cross over into the eastbound carriageway, where a contraflow system will be in place. One lane of traffic will still be able to run eastbound on the eastbound carriageway, whilst one lane on traffic will temporarily be allowed to run westbound.
iii. impose an overtaking ban on the eastbound and westbound dual carriageway sections as described at 1. above;
iv. ban all traffic from the laybys adjacent to the A590 located between the easterly kerb of Pennington Lane and the easterly kerb of Lightburn Road;
v. ban all traffic movements between the A590 and Daltongate.

The works are expected to take place overnight between 2000 hours and 0600 hours during a period starting on Monday 7 August 2017 and ending on Saturday 12 August 2017. However, work may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the A590 and local roads will be well signed. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services or works vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
