Statutory Notice of the Proposed Dissolution of Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College in accordance with the Further and Higher Education Act Section 33 N

This notice is given by the Corporation of Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College in accordance with The Sixth Form College Corporations (Publications of Proposals) (England) Regulations 2012 and the provisions of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 (the Act), as amended by the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 and the Education Act 2011, of the proposal that Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College (Monarch Drive, Northwich, Cheshire CW9 8AF) be dissolved and the property, rights, assets and liabilities of the Corporation be transferred to an Academy Trust to be known as the Sir John Brunner Foundation (Proposed registered address to be : Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College, Monarch Drive, Northwich, Cheshire CW9 8AF)

Dissolution of Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College is proposed at the request of the Corporation in order that Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College, a sixth form college, can be replaced with Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College, a 16-19 academy. This academy will be a part of the Sir John Brunner Foundation, a multi-academy trust, subject to gaining the appropriate permissions for the creation of the said Foundation.

The date proposed for the dissolution of Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College as a sixth form college and the creation of Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College as a 16-19 academy is 1 February 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter subject to the appropriate permissions. All students currently attending Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College will continue their education as currently planned and there are no plans to change the College’s provision.

Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College provides sixth form education primarily at A Level with a small number of Level 3 BTEC qualifications and principally for 16-18 year old students. The current number of full-time 16-18 year old students is 1,634, the number of part-time students is 1 and the total number of students is 1,635. A copy of the proposal and consultation document is available at www.sjd.ac.uk/SirJohnBrunnerFoundation or by requesting a copy via e-mail to consultation@sjd.ac.uk and will be sent to anyone who requests it. In accordance with the provisions of the Act, consultation on these proposals will run from 7 July 2017 to 16 August 2017. All responses and representations must be made by 16 August 2017. A summary of the consultation and its outcome will be published within two months of the end of the consultation period and the summary will be available free of charge to anyone who requests it.
