CITY OF YORK COUNCIL TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an Order on the 29th day of June 2017 in respect of each of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4) and (5). Additionally, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of each of the locations numbered (6), (7), (8) and (9).
(1) VARIOUS ROADS, YORK
This Order prohibits, where necessary, vehicles from proceeding and waiting at anytime in the whole or in any length of a road listed in the schedule below (restricted roads) between such times and on such dates during the validity of the Order as shall be determined by the Council in order to safely and effectively carry out carriageway resurfacing works. Relevant times and dates will be notified in writing to occupiers of premises adjacent to a restricted road not less than 48 hours before the said prohibition comes into effect in that road. The Order will commence on 3rd day of July 2017 and expire on 8th day of August 2017 or when all works have been completed whichever is the earlier. An alternative route for diverted traffic for the respective locations will be signed where applicable/appropriate. It is envisaged that the works at each location will be undertaken between the dates listed in the Schedule below and with the except of Nunthorpe Avenue and Field Lane will be undertaken between 8.30am and 5.30pm during the validity of the Order. In Nunthorpe Avenue and Field Lane it is envisaged that the works will be undertaken between 9.15am and 5.30pm. SCHEDULE
(4) STRENSALL COMMON ROAD LEVEL CROSSING, STRENSALL
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding through the Strensall Common Road Level Crossing on Common Road, Strensall (closed road) during the period when track maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, that period commencing at 2300hrs on the 8th day of July 2017 and ending at 0900hrs on the 9th day of July 2017 or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be available via York Lane, Cross Lane, Smith's Lane, Common Road and vice versa.
(5) GROSVENOR ROAD, YORK This Order prohibits vehicles from waiting from 10am to 10pm in unrestricted lengths on the south side of Grosvenor Road, York between its junctions with Bootham Crescent and the service road to Grosvenor Park (restricted road) and, in addition, the Order imposes a prohibition on vehicles from proceeding between the said times in the restricted road during the period from 1st day of July 2017 to 31st day of May 2018. This is because of the likelihood of danger arising. it is envisaged that the restrictions and prohibition will only be put in place on the occasion of a football match or sporting event at the adjacent football stadium and only for such period within the specified times as is necessary to ensure safety. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be available via Burton Stone Lane, Clifton, Bootham Crescent and vice versa.
(6) HUNGATE AND PALMER LANE, YORK This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in (i) Hungate, York between its junction with Carmelite Street and a point 15 metres south east of its junction with The Stonebow and (ii) Palmer Lane, York (closed road) during the period commencing at 0001hrs on the 17th day of July 2017 and ending at 2400hrs on the 17th day of January 2019 (works period) or at time when nearby redevelopment works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.
(7) COPPERGATE, YORK This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in Coppergate, York (closed road) during the period commencing at 0001hrs on the 17th day of July 2017 and ending at 2400hrs on the 28th day of July 2017 (works period) or at a time when traffic signal improvement works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.
(8) ELVINGTON LANE (B1228), YORK This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding in that length of Elvington Lane, Dunnington between its junctions with Common Lane and Dauby Lane (closed road) during the period commencing at 2300hrs on 8th day of July 2017 and ending at 1600hrs on the 9th day of July 2017 or at time when carriageway resurfacing works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.
(9) SCARCROFT ROAD, YORK This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in Scarcroft Road, York between its junctions with Nunthorpe Avenue and Scarcroft Hill (closed road) during the period commencing at 1900hrs and ending at 2400hrs on the 18th dayof July2017 (works period) or at a time when carriagewayresurfacing works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period. The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions. (2) NEW EARSWICK FOOTPATH NO. 29/2/30, NEW EARSWICK
This Order prohibits pedestrians and vehicles from proceeding in that length of closed footpath, known as New Earswick Footpath No 29/2/30 between points 50 meters south and 50 meters north of the footbridge (closed footpath), during the period when works associated with reconstruction of the culvert headwall and re-lining of culvert that runs under the railway are being undertaken thereon. The prohibition commences at 0800hrs on the 3rd day of July 2017 and ends at 2400hrs on the 4th day of August 2017 or on a date when the said works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians and vehicles will be signed during works period.
(3) CLARENCE STREET, GILLYGATE & LORD MAYOR'S WALK, YORK This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in (i) Clarence Street, York (ii) Gillygate, York and (iii) Lord Mayor's Walk, York (closed road) during the period when carriageway resurfacing works being undertaken thereon that period commencing at 2000hrs on 3rd day of July 2017 and ending at 2400hrs on the 7th day of July 2017 or at a time and date when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the closure will only be put into effect during overnight periods between 2000hrs and 0600hrs during the works period. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.
