THE A64 TRUNK ROAD (ASKHAM BAR INTERCHANGE TO GRIMSTON BAR INTERCHANGE) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A64 Trunk Road, in the City of York, to enable carriageway resurfacing, road marking, stud renewal, drainage, resetting ironwork and routine maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Monday 3 July 2017 for 6 weeks, or until completed. The effect of the Order will be to impose, 24 hours a day, at times during the works, a 50mph speed restriction on the A64:
(i) eastbound carriageway from 1600 metres west of the exit slip road at the A1036 Askham Bar Interchange to 130 metres east of the entry slip road at the A1079/ A166 Grimston Bar Interchange, a distance of 12200 metres; and
(ii) westbound carriageway from 1560 metres east of the exit slip road at Grimston Bar Interchange to 110 metres west of the entry slip road at Askham Bar Interchange, a distance of 11400 metres.
It will be necessary to close between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works the:
(i) A64 eastbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Askham Bar Interchange to the entry slip road at Grimston Bar Interchange, a distance of 10500 metres;
(ii) A64 westbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Grimston Bar Interchange
to the entry slip road at Askham Bar Interchange, a distance of 9900 metres;
(iii) A1237 eastbound and westbound carriageways from Manor Heath Road Junction to the nose of the westbound entry slip road at Askham Bryan Interchange, a distance of 180 metres;
(iv) A64 eastbound exit and westbound exit and entry slip roads at the A1237 Askham Bryan Interchange;
(v) A64 eastbound entry and westbound exit slip roads at Askham Bar Interchange;
(vi) A64 eastbound and westbound exit and entry slip roads at the A19 Fulford Interchange;
(vii) A64 eastbound exit and westbound entry slip roads at Grimston Bar Interchange;
(viii)un-segregated footway/cycle track adjacent to the A64 westbound entry slip road at Askham Bryan Interchange from its junction with Manor Heath Road westwards for a distance of 410 metres. During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. It will also be necessary, to close 24 hours a day, for the duration of the works, the laybys adjacent to the A64 eastbound and westbound carriageways between Askham Bar Interchange and Grimston Bar Interchange. Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works, to anyone engaged in the said works or for winter maintenance).
