A27 TRUNK ROAD (NEAR BRIGHTON) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the A27 Trunk Road in the Unitary Authority of Brighton and Hove, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to authorise:-
a) the overnight closure of;
i) both carriageways of the A27 between Hangleton Interchange (A293) and Devil's Dyke Interchange (A2038);
ii) the slip roads leading to the eastbound carriageway and from the westbound carriageway of the A27 at Hangleton
Interchange (A293); and
iii) the slip roads leading from the eastbound carriageway and to the westbound carriageway of the A27 at Devil's Dyke
Interchange (A2038); and
b) the 24-hour closure of all of the lay-bys adjacent to the carriageways described in a) i) above.
These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing, inlays/overlays, road-marking, reinstallation of studs, high friction surfacing, drainage work and all associated works. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 8 weeks starting on or after Monday 17th July 2017. The overnight closures would take place between 21:00 and 05:00 (maximum period). The Order would come into force on 15 July 2017 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months. Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using the A293, A270 and A2038. The temporary closures and diversion route would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
