ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
WOKINGHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL (SMITH'S WALK, WOKINGHAM) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIAN ACCESS) ORDER 2017
NOTICE IS HEREBY given that on the 13th June 2017 the Wokingham Borough Council as Traffic Authority made an Order under Section 14 (1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act") and all other enabling powers the effect of which is to continue in force the restrictions contained in a Notice under Section 14 (2) of the Act dated 12th June 2017 prohibiting any person from proceeding along Smith's Walk, Wokingham between its junctions with Heelas Road and Woosehill Lane. The reason for this prohibition is to enable Wokingham Borough Council contractors to undertake footpath improvement works in safety. The alternative route for all pedestrians affected by this restriction is via Heelas Road, Mansfield Road and Woosehill Lane, or by this route in reverse.
The restrictions shall only apply during those periods when traffic signs in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Direction 2016 are lawfully displayed in the said road.
The Order shall come into operation on the 17th June 2017 and shall continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
