TemporaryClosureofPublic Footpath 68 & SouthWestCoast Path,Portland
DORSET COUNTY COUNCIL hasmadeanOrder under SectionI4[I] of theRoad Traffic RegulationAct I984,asamended by theRoadTraffic[TemporaryRestrictions] ActI991. All pedestrians will be prohibitedfromproceedingalong Public Footpath No 68,Portlandfromgridreference SY 699 7I4 to grid referenceSY702 724, adistanceof approximately I,500 metres. Theorder is needed in ordertocomply with Health and Safety Regulations,which requirethe provisionofsafeworking areasand to minimise thelikelihood of danger to HighwayUsers. Itwill come intooperation on the22nd June 20I7 foraperiod of 26 weeks, until2IstDecember 20I7.But it maybeextended, withthe approvalofthe Secretary of Statefor Transport, if necessary. This closureisrequiredtodue to alandslip, making thefootpath unstable. Forthe period of this footpath closureanalternative route will be signposted.
