(WALLINGFORD FESTIVAL OF CYCLING) (SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2017
NOTICE is hereby given that on 10 July 2017 Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under Section I6A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order is to facilitate the holding of the Wallingford Festival of Cycling on Sunday 16 July 2017 which is promoted by Tony Sefton, 82E High Street,Wallingford OX 10 0B.The Council is satisfied that it is not practicable for the event to be conducted off-road. The occasion includes numerous cycle events, the largest being extending outside the town centre from Shillingford to Ipsden,Woodcote and Goring
Spectator numbers are expected at 6000 people; competitors towards 2,500 and 300 British Cycle Racers. There will also be other cycling events and displays etc. in the town centre. The effect ofthe order is to variously close the roads listed below prevent parking and introduce clearways to enable participants, spectators and others to safely use the roads. Some closures will be limited to short durations and some will involve'rolling road blocks'. The closures will overall be between approx. I0am and 8pm on Sunday I6 July with different restrictions taking place at various times.
Appropriate traffic signs will be used to indicate when and which closures are in place and traffic marshals will be assisting the movement of vehicles, access and pedestrians. Exemptions to the closures are included for emergency services and event organisers and authorised support vehicles,and for controlled access to properties.
Diversions: Traffic from Shillingford Bridge will be diverted via Norries Drive and St Georges Road & St Nicholas Road to access the town centre area. Traffic from Crowmarsh Gifford wanting to access Wallingford Town Centre will be diverted via Benson Lane,A4074 Henley Road,Wallingford Road, Shillingford Road, Norries Drive, St Georges Road & St Nicholas Road. Traffic from the west A4I30 High Road & Hithercroft Road will be diverted via St John's Road, Croft Road, Station Road and vice versa. Traffic from the south on Reading Road will be diverted via St John's Road & Croft Road.
