ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE M60 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 18-23 CLOCKWISE & ANTICLOCKWISE CARRIAGEWAYS & SLIP ROADS) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M60 Motorway in the City of Manchester and the Boroughs of Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, and Tameside in the County of Greater Manchester to enable resurfacing, replacement of road markings and road studs, joint repairs, and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety.
(a) The Order will impose a 50 mph speed restriction on the following sections of the M60 Motorway and its slip roads:
i. the clockwise carriageway, from the last point where the junction 18 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the centreline of Lumb Lane overbridge;
ii. the anticlockwise carriageway, from a point 175 metres south of the first point where the junction 23 entry slip road joins the carriageway, to a point 130 metres west of the centreline of Old Hall Lane footbridge;
iii. the clockwise entry slip road at junction 18;
iv. the clockwise entry slip road at junction 19;
v. the clockwise entry slip road at junction 21;
vi. the clockwise entry slip road at junction 22;
vii. the anticlockwise entry slip road at junction 19; viii.the anticlockwise entry slip road at junction 20;
ix. the anticlockwise entry slip road at junction 21;
x. the anticlockwise entry slip road at junction 23.
(b) The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M60 Motorway and its slip roads:
i. the clockwise carriageway, from a point 195 metres west of the centreline of Old Hall Lane footbridge, to a point 190 metres north of the centreline of Lumb Lane overbridge;
ii. the anticlockwise carriageway, from a point 110 metres south of the centreline of Lumb Lane overbridge, to a point 105 metres east of the centreline of Old Hall Lane footbridge;
iii. the clockwise entry and exit slip roads at junction 19;
iv. the clockwise exit slip road at junction 20;
v. the clockwise exit and entry slip roads at junction 21;
vi. the clockwise exit and entry slip roads at junction 22;
vii. the anticlockwise exit and entry slip roads at junction 19; viii.the anticlockwise entry slip road at junction 20;
ix. the anticlockwise exit and entry slip roads at junction 21;
x. the anticlockwise exit slip road at junction 22.
(c) The Order will allow the hard shoulder to be used as running lanes on the M60 clockwise and anticlockwise carriageways as described in (b) i and (b) ii above. A 50 miles per hour speed restriction will be imposed on all traffic using the hard shoulder. Restrictions (a) and (c) and prohibitions (b) are expected to take place overnight between 2000 hours and 0500 hours (continuing to 0700 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Monday 12 June 2017 and ending on Monday 17 July 2017. Each slip road closure is expected to take place for a maximum of three nights. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M60 Motorway and local roads will be well signed. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
