A34 TRUNK ROAD (NEAR OXFORD) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an order on the A34 Trunk Road in the County of Oxfordshire, under section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to -

(a) authorise the overnight closure of the northbound carriageway of the A34 between Marcham Interchange (A415) and Hinksey Hill Interchange (A423);



(b) impose a 24-hour 50 mph speed restriction on the northbound carriageway of the A34 between points 1400 metres south and 1200 metres north of Lodge Hill overbridge and the slip road leading to this carriageway from Oxford Road Junction



(A4183); and

(c) impose a 24-hour width restriction of 3.0 metres on the inside lane and 2.5 meters on the outside lane of the northbound carriageway of the A34 between points 550 metres south and 1100 metres north of Lodge Hill overbridge.



(d) the 24-hour closure of any lay-by adjacent to the carriageway described in (a) above.



These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake barrier replacements and all associated works. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 2 weeks starting on or after Monday 5th June 2017. The overnight closures would take place between 22:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).

The Order would come into force on 3 June 2017 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.

During the closures outlined above, traffic affected would be diverted via the A415, Colwell drive, Copenhagen Drive, Dunmore

Road and A4183.

The temporary mandatory closures speed and width restriction would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
