THE M8, M73, M74 MOTORWAY IMPROVEMENTS (SHAWHEAD) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND OVERTAKING AND TEMPORARY SPEED RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2017
The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 14(1)(a) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(a) temporarily prohibiting traffic, overtaking and restricting the speed of vehicles on the following length of road:
1. That length of newly constructed carriageway from the B7070 North Road in a generally eastwards and then south and southwestwards direction to the point where the extended centreline of that carriageway intersects with the centreline of the A725/A726 Shawhead - East Kilbride - Phillipshill Roundabout Trunk Road, a distance of 400 metres or thereby. The Order, which is required because works are being
or are proposed to be executed on or near the lengths
of road will be in force from 12th May 2017 until 31st
August 2017 and the prohibitions and restrictions
contained in the Order will only have effect in relation to the length of road specified above when indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. The prohibitions of traffic and overtaking do not apply to vehicles being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes or vehicles used for carrying out the works. The speed restrictions do not apply to vehicles being used in the service of the Special Forces or to vehicles being used in an
emergency for coastguard purposes.
Alternative routes for the traffic during the prohibition will be signposted.
