M3 MOTORWAY JUNCTIONS 13-14 NEAR EASTLEIGH
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited(a) has made an Order on the M3 Motorway in the County of Hampshire and the Unitary Authority of Southampton, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order is to authorise the phased weekday overnight closure of:-
a) the southbound carriageway of the M3 from Junction 13 (A335) to the diverge point between the link roads leading to Chilworth Roundabout (A27/A33) and the M27 eastbound (M27 Junction 4 east);
b) the road leading to the coast-bound link road (connecting the M3 to the eastbound carriageway of the M27) at Junction 13 (A335);
c) the road leading from the coast-bound carriageway of the M3 to Chilworth
Roundabout (A27/A33) at Junction 14 (M27
Junction 4) (Chilworth Interchange);
d) the road connecting the coast-bound carriageway of the M3 to the eastbound carriageway of the M27 at Junction 14 (M27 Junction 4) (Chilworth Interchange);
e) the road connecting the coast-bound carriageway of the M3 to the westbound carriageway of the M27 at Junction 14 (M27 Junction 4);
f) the road connecting the eastbound carriageway of the M27 to the London-bound carriageway of the M3 from Junction 14 (M27 Junction 4) (Chilworth Interchange); and
g) the road connecting the link road described in e) above to the slip road described in
c) above.
These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing, road marking, loop and stud installation and all associated work.
It is expected that the work will last for approximately 4 weeks starting on or after Tuesday 23rd May 2017. The overnight closures will take place between 22:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).
The Order will come into force on 21 May 2017 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months. Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted via Junctions 3 and 5 of the M27, and using the A27, A335, Passfield Avenue, Chestnut Avenue, Stoneham Lane and Stoneham Way. The diversion in operation will vary according to the closures in force.
The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
