PUBLIC NOTICE SECTION 16A ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS -HARROW ON THE HILL GANTRY CELEBRATIONS
HARROW COUNCIL HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that they Intend to make a temporary traffic order under the provisions of section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 that shall temporarily close parts of High Street, Harrow on the Hill and Byron Hill Road and introduce waiting restrictions in addition to the existing waiting restrictions to allow an event known as the Harrow on the Hill Gantry Celebrations to take place.
The general effect of the order would be:-
1. Vehicles shall be prohibited from entering or exiting the following lengths of High Street, Harrow-on-the-hill, between 10am and 5pm on Sunday 30th April 2017;

(i) the north-western arm of High Street, Harrow-on-the-hill between its junction with Byron Hill Road and a point opposite the party wall of Nos. 84/84A and 86/86A High Street, Harrow-on-the-hill;

(ii) the south-western arm of High Street, Harrow-on-the-hill between its junction with Byron Hill Road and a point opposite the south-eastern boundary of Nos. 92/92A/92B High Street, Harrow-on-the-hill.

2. The provisions of the order will not have effect unless all the signs provided in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 are displayed.

3. The provisions listed in paragraph 1 would not apply to:-

(a) any vehicle being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes in an emergency

(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a civil enforcement officer;

(c) any person who causes any vehicle to proceed in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed pursuant to Section 66 or Section 67 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984;

(d) prevent residents gaining access to their property, as far as is practicably possible;

(e) any vehicles that are being used in connection with the operation of the Gantry Ceremony.

4. The diversion route for the closure of High Street, Harrow on the Hill will be via Waldron Road, Crown Street, Byron Hill Road and vice versa.
