CITY OF YORK COUNCIL TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an Order on the 27th day of April 2017 in respect of each of the locations numbered (1), (2) and (3). Additionally, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of each of the locations numbered (4) and (5).

(1) CONINGHAM AVENUE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of Coningham Avenue, York between its junctions with Manor Lane and Cobham Way (closed road) during the period when water maintenance works being undertaken thereon, that period commencing at 0930hrs and ending at 1530hrs on the 5th day of May 2017 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.

(2) MARKET STREET, YORK This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in Market Street, York (closed road) during the period when water connection works being undertaken thereon, that period commencing at 1830hrs on the 8th day of May 2017 and ending at 2400hrs on the 11th day of May 2017 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the 'ONE WAY' direction of traffic flow in Market Street & Feasegate is suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said roads when the closure is put into effect. It is envisaged that the prohibition will only be put into effect between 1830hrs and 2300hrs during the works period. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.

(3) LAYERTHORPE, YORK This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of (i) Layerthorpe, York between its junctions with Foss Islands Road and Hawthorn Street and (ii) Hallfield Road, York (closed road) during the period when carriageway resurfacing works being undertaken thereon, that period commencing at 1900hrs and ending at 2400hrs on the 5th day of May 2017 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.

(4) SOUTHFIELDS ROAD, STRENSALL This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in Southfields Road, Strensall between its junction with The Village and a point 40 metres south of the said junction (closed road) during the period commencing at 0930hrs and ending at 1430hrs on the 15th day of May2017 (works period) or at a time when works to a defective manhole cover and frame being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. During the closure period vehicle movements on The Village will be controlled by two-way traffic signals. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.

(5) KNAVESMIRE, YORK This Order will prohibit pedestrians and vehicles from proceeding in:

(a) Green Lane Footpath No. 46/26,



(b) York Footpath No. 46/30



to the extent that the said footpaths extend across the width of the Knavesmire Racecourse except that this prohibition will not apply to a pedestrian or vehicle proceeding other than during a period when a horse race is in progress. This is to ensure the safety of users. Manned barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibition at the respective locations. The Order will come into effect on the 17h day of May 2017 and end on the 31st day of October

2017.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/ restrictions.
