ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984-SECTION 14(1)(a) THE A40 TRUNK ROAD (ENGLAND/WALES BORDER TO GANAREW) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 9346363) has made an Order on the A40 Trunk Road, between the England/Wales border and Ganarew, in the County of Herefordshire to allow drainage and additional maintenance works to be carried out. The effect of the Order will be to -
1) impose a 50 miles per hour speed restriction on -

a) the northbound carriageway of the A40 from the England/Wales Border at Ganarew, to a point 100 metres north of the centreline of the overbridge at Ganarew;

b) the southbound carriageway of the A40 from a point 185 metres northeast of Talybont Lane underbridge, to its junction with the England/Wales Border, at Ganarew; and

2) prohibit any vehicle from entering or leaving the length of the A40 described in 1 b) above at its junction with any side road.

The work is expected to start on Monday 8 May 2017 and continue for approximately 2 months. The speed limit and prohibition will be in operation between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours. The order will come into force on
Monday 1 May 2017.
Vehicles being used by special forces will be exempt from the speed restrictions. Vehicles being used by the emergency services will be exempt from the speed restrictions and prohibition. Vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the prohibition. Diversion routes via the A40, A466 and the Ganarew overbridge for the restricted side road access will be signed.
