A34 TRUNK ROAD
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an order on the A34 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire, under section14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to authorise:
(a) the overnight closure of -
(i) the northbound carriageway of the A34 between Kings Worthy Interchange (A33) and Tot Hill Interchange (B4640);
(ii) the southbound carriageway of the A34 between Andover Road Interchange (A343) and Kings Worthy Interchange (A33); and
(iii) the side roads at junction with the A34 leading to Tufton Warren and Firgo with the A34; and
(b) the 24-hour closure of all lay-bys adjacent to the carriageways described in (i) and (ii) above.
These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing and all associated works. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 10 weeks starting on or after Monday 15th May 2017. The overnight closures would take place between 22:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).
The Order would come into force on 13 May 2017 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using the A33, A303, A343, A3093 and M3. The diversion in operation would vary according to the type of vehicle and closure in force. Access to and from premises accessible from, and only from, the carriageways described in (a) (i) and (ii) above would be permitted by escort. The temporary mandatory closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
