M27 MOTORWAY -JUNCTION 5 NEAR EASTLEIGH TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the M27 Motorway in the County of Hampshire and the Unitary Authority of Southampton, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order is to:-

a) authorise the overnight closure of the roads leading to and from the eastbound carriageway;



b) impose a 24-hour 50mph speed limit on the road leading from



c) the eastbound carriageway; and restrict, over periods of 24 hours, on the road leading from the eastbound carriageway, the width of vehicles to 3.25 metres on the nearside lane and 3 metres on the outside lane;



at Junction 5 of the M27 (Stoneham Interchange)

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake road marking, traffic signs works, barrier works, installation of pedestrian handrail, drainage work and all associated works. It is expected that the work will last for approximately 5 weeks starting on or after Monday 17th April 2017. The overnight closures will take place between 22:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). The Order will come into force on 15 April 2017 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months. Traffic affected by the closures will either be directed eastbound to Junction 7 (A334) and return, or be diverted using the A27, A334, A335, Stoneham Lane, Chestnut Avenue and Wide Lane. The diversion in operation will vary according to the closure in force. The closures, speed and width restrictions and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
