SEDGEMOOR DISTRICT COUNCIL
SEDGEMOOR DISTRICT COUNCIL, in its capacity as a Billing Authority underthe Local Government Finance Act 1992, at its meeting on 22 February 2017 resolved to set a COUNCIL TAX for the year ending 31 March 2018. The Council Tax was set by reference to the number of properties within the District of Sedgemoor in the different valuation bands in the Inland Revenue's Valuation List compiled underthe same Act. The level of Taxis expected to meetthe precepts ofSomersetCounty Council which includes an amountfor the SomersetRivers Authority, the Somerset County Council adult social care precept, the Avon and Somerset Police Crime Commissioner Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Authority, Sedgemoor District Council and, where appropriate, town councils, parish councils and parish meetings.
The various precepts are converted to an amount of Council Tax for a property in band D as follows:

* includes 1.25% increase for contribution towards the Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA)

The total payable for properties in bands other than Dcan be determined by applying the following factors to the band D total derived from the above:
band A 6/9 band E 11/9
bandB 7/9 band F 13/9
band C 8/9 band G 15/9
band H 18/9
The Actreferred to allows reductions byreference to the numberofpersons residentin the property. Payment is normally made by 10 monthly instalments commencing in April 2017 or by one payment of the full amount.
However payments can be made over 12 monthly instalments bycontacting the Council on 0300 303 7801.
For payers with low income a Council TaxSupportDiscountScheme is operated.
