M3 MOTORWAY - NEAR BASINGSTOKE TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the M3 Motorway in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to:-
a) authorise the phased overnight closure of -
i) the London-bound carriageway of the M3 between Junction 7 (A30) and Junction 6 (A339); and
ii) all the roads leading to and from the carriageway described in i) above;
b) impose a 24-hour 50mph speed limit on the carriageway and slip roads described in a) above when they are open; and
c) authorise overnight hard shoulder running adjacent to the carriageway described in a) i) above when it is open.
These measures would be in the interests of road
safety while contractors undertake carriageway
repairs, resurfacing and associated works, road
marking, stud and loop replacement, drainage
work, bridge and asset inspections and surveys
and vegetation clearance.
It is expected that the work would last for
approximately 3 weeks starting on or after
Monday 20th March 2017. The overnight
closures would take place between 21:00 and
06:00 (maximum period).
The Order would come into force on
18 March 2017 and have a maximum
duration of eighteen months.
Traffic affected by the closure would be diverted
using the A30 and A339.
The closures, speed restriction and hard shoulder running would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
