A3 TRUNK ROAD AND A3(M) MOTORWAY TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an order on the A3 Trunk Road and A3(M) Motorway in the Counties of Surrey and Hampshire, under section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order is to authorise:
(a) the phased overnight closure of -

(i) both carriageways of the A3 and A3(M) from A3 Ockham Interchange to A3(M) Junction 3;

(ii) the slip/link roads leading to and from the lengths of carriageway described in (a)(i) above; and

(iii)the side roads at junction with the lengths of carriageway described in (a)(i) above; and
(b) the phased closure of the lay-bys adjacent to the carriageways described in (a)(i) and (ii) above and the layby on the southbound carriageway of the A3 just north of Elm Lane.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake essential carriageway works, street lighting repairs, and all associated works.
It is expected that the work will last for approximately 9 weeks starting on or after Monday 27th February 2017. The overnight closures of the roads described in (a)(i) and (iii) above will take place between 21:00 and 06:00 and in (a)(ii) above between 20:00 and 06:00 (maximum periods). The Order will come into force on 25 February 2017 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
During the closures described in (a)(i) and (ii) above, traffic affected will be diverted via other junctions of the A3(M) or A3, or by using the M27,

A320, A322, A325, B2070, B2150, B2171, B2215, B3000, B3002, B3004, B3006, B382, Brook Lane, East Street, Hambledon Road, South Lane, Chalton Lane, Winchester Road, Station Road, Drift Road, Eashing Lane and Hollow Road
The temporary mandatory carriageway, slip/link road and lay-by closures will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
