THE A556 TRUNK ROAD (M6 JUNCTION 19 SOUTHBOUND EXIT & ENTRY SLIP ROADS & NORTHBOUND ENTRY SLIP ROAD) & M56 (JUNCTION 7 EASTBOUND & WESTBOUND EXIT SLIP ROADS & JUNCTION 8 ENTRY SLIP ROAD) [TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the A556 Trunk Road, and M6 and M56 Motorways, in the Boroughs of Cheshire East and Trafford in the Counties of Cheshire and Greater Manchester to enable works on the Knutsford to Bowdon Improvement Scheme, to be carried out in safety.
that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the A556 Trunk Road, and M6 and M56 Motorways, in the Boroughs of Cheshire East and Trafford in the Counties of Cheshire and Greater Manchester to enable works on the Knutsford to Bowdon Improvement Scheme, to be carried out in safety.
(a) The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the A556 Trunk Road:-

i) the northbound carriageway, from the centre point of its junction with the M6 junction 19 roundabout, to the centre point of its junction with the A556 Bowdon Roundabout;

ii) the southbound carriageway, from the centre point of its junction with the A556 Bowdon Roundabout, to the centre point of its junction with the M6 junction 19 roundabout.

(b) The Order will ban all traffic on the following sections of the M6 and M56 Motorway:-

i) the M6 northbound entry slip road at junction 19;

ii) the M6 southbound entry slip road at junction 19;

iii) the M6 southbound exit slip road at junction 19;

iv) the M56 entry slip road at junction 8;

v) the M56 eastbound exit slip road at junction 7;

vi) the M56 westbound exit slip road at junction 7.

(c) The Order will ban all traffic from:-

i) turning left from Bucklow Hill Lane onto the A556 northbound carriageway only to access Mereside Road (A5034);

ii) turning left or right from Chapel Lane onto the A556 northbound and southbound carriageways;

iii) turning left of right from Mereside Road onto the A556 northbound and southbound carriageways;

iv) turning left from Millington Hall Lane onto the A556 northbound carriageway;

v) turning left from Millington Lane onto the A556 northbound carriageway;

vi) turning left or right from Rostherne Lane onto the A556 northbound or southbound carriageways;

vii) turning left from Cherry Tree Lane onto the A556 southbound carriageway;

viii) from turning left or right from the A50 onto the A556 southbound and northbound carriageways;

ix) from turning left or right from Bentlyhurst Lane onto the A556 southbound or northbound carriageways;

x) turning left or right from Old Hall Lane onto the A556 southbound and northbound carriageways;

xi) turning left from Pickmere Lane onto the A556 northbound carriageway;

xii) turning right from the A5033 Northwich Road onto the A556 northbound carriageway.

The works are expected to take place over a continuous period during five consecutive weekends starting at 2100 hours on Friday 17 February 2017 and ending at 0600 hours on Monday 20 March 2017. However, the may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or continue until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the A556 Trunk Road, M56 and M6 Motorways, and local roads will be well signed. The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles, and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
