ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) THE M40 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 6 TO 9) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 201
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (a) intends to make an Order on the M40 Motorway in the Districts of Wycombe in the County of Buckinghamshire and the Districts of South Oxfordshire and Cherwell in the County of Oxfordshire. This is to enable routine maintenance works to the slip roads and carriageway between Junctions 6 and 9 to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to take place overnight (8pm-7am, continuing to 8am on Saturday and Sunday mornings) between 2 March 2017 and 31 May 2017. The works would be carried out in phases using a full carriageway, slip road or lane closures. The closures would be applied only to the extent that is necessary for particular works to be undertaken and would only apply during such times and to such extent as would be indicated by traffic signs.
The effect of the Order would be to close the M40-
- southbound carriageway between the exit and entry slip roads at J9 diverting traffic via those slip roads,
- northbound and southbound Oxford Spurs leading to and from the A40 at J8,
- northbound and southbound carriageway between J6 and J8A, diverting traffic via the B4009 then A40 London Road and A418 to re-join the M40 at J8A, southbound vice versa,
- northbound and southbound exit and entry slip roads at J6, J8A and J9, and
- northbound exit and southbound entry slip road at J7.
During the slip road closures traffic wishing to enter or leave the M40 would be diverted on or off the motorway at the nearest open slip road and return to the original junction via the opposite carriageway in order to continue their journey.
The temporary mandatory closures (which would not apply to works, winter maintenance, emergency service or traffic officer vehicles) and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (a) intends to make an Order on the M40 Motorway in the Districts of Cherwell in the County of Oxfordshire and Stratford on Avon and Warwick in the County of Warwickshire. This is to enable annual routine maintenance works between Junctions 10 and 15 to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to take place overnight 8pm - 7am between 6 March and 31 May 2017. The works would be carried out in phases using slip road closures. The closures would be applied only to the extent that is necessary for particular works to be undertaken and would apply during such times and to such extent as would be indicated by traffic signs. The effect of the Order would be to close the M40-
- northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads at J10, J11, and J12,
- northbound exit and southbound entry slip roads at J13 and J15,
- northbound entry and southbound exit slip roads at J14, and
- northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads from and to Warwick Services.

During the closures traffic wishing to enter or leave the M40 would be diverted on or off the motorway at the nearest open slip road and return to the original junction via the opposite carriageway in order to continue their journey.
The closures (which would not apply to emergency service, winter maintenance, traffic officer or works vehicles) and diversion routes would be clearly signed throughout the works.
The Orders would come into force on 27 February 2017 and continue in
force until 31 May 2017.
