ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14(1) & (7)
Notice of Temporary Traffic Order Oxford, Howard Street Prohibition of Through Traffic and Vehicles Date of Order: 30 January 2017 Coming into force: 6 February 2017 This Order is being introduced because of sewer cleansing works to take place between 9am and 5pm on the following Monday/Tuesdays: 6-7 February; 8-9 May; 10-11 July;9-10 October;and 4-5 December 2017. The effect of the order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle using that length of Howard Street (between Nos. 83 & 89) immediately southwest of Catherine Street junction. The one-way traffic Iffley Road side of the closure will temporarily become two-way, resulting in waiting areas being suspended to allow for two-way traffic as follows: i) Southeast side from a point 18 metres northeast of Iffley Road for 5 metres; and ii) Northwest side from a point 40 metres northeast of Iffley Road junction for 35 metres. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

The relevant part of The Oxfordshire County Council (Various Streets East Oxford) (Traffic Regulations) Order 2002 (as amended) will temporarily be suspended in so much as it is affected by the works. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.
