THE M4 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 17-15) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (a) has made an Order on the M4 Motorway between junctions 17 and 15 in the Wiltshire to enable concrete repairs to the rail bridge abutments to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to take place on or after 13 January 2017 and be completed by 4 April 2017
The effect of the Order will be:
(a) to impose a temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour speed limit on:
(I) the eastbound carriagewayofthe M4 from Hook Lane Overbridge to South Leaze Footbridge;
(ii) the eastbound entry and exit slip roads at M4 junction 16;
(b) to authorise the overnight closure (between 8.00pm and 6.00am) of;
(i) the east bound carriageway of the M4 between Junction 16 and Junction 15;
(ii) the eastbound entry slip road at M4 junction 16;
(c) to restrict vehicles over 2.5 metres in width to the middle or nearside lanes of the M4 and to restrict vehicles over 3 metres in width to the nearside lanes of the M4 over the same length as described at (a)(i) above.
There will also be overnight lane closures through the works. The restrictions will not apply to emergency service or special forces vehicles.
During the closure described at (b) above traffic will be diverted via Great Western Way, County Road, Queens Drive, Marlborough Road and A419 to M4 Junction 15. The temporary mandatory speed limits, carriageway closures, slip road closures, lane closures, narrow lanes and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works period and will only apply when traffic management measures are in place. The Order will come into force on 11 January 2017 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.
