(A688 EAST OF THINFORD) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2016

The Council proposes in not less than 7 days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, to close to all vehicular traffic: 1) a 200m length of A688 in an easterly direction only between its junctions with A167 Thinford Roundabout and the eastern access to the Nursery/Garden Centre; and 2) a 200m length of A688 in a westerly direction only between its junctions with the eastern access to the Nursery/Garden Centre and A167 Thinford Roundabout by reason of carriageway widening works in association with a proposed development to be undertaken. The maximum duration of the temporary closure under the Order is 18 months and is required from 16.01.17 for 11 weeks (2 days for closure no.2). However, on rare occasions, alternative dates for closures may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly. Alternative route: from the western side of the closure from Thinford Roundabout southwards on A167 to Rushyford, westwards on A689 to A1(M) Junction 60 Bradbury, continuing on A689 to Sands Hall Roundabout, Sedgefield then northwards on A177 to Coxhoe and Tursdale to the eastern side of the closure, (and vice versa during closure no.2).
