In the matter of the Dauntsey Almshouse Charity, in the Ancient Parish of West Lavington, in the County of Wilts.
Notice is hereby given that a vacancy exists for an almsperson of this Charity.
Poor persons of good character who have resided in the area of the Ancient Parish of West Lavington for not less than two years next preceding the time of their appointment are eligible for appointment. In default of suitable applicants qualified as aforesaid, persons otherwise qualified who are resident at East Lavington, Tibside, Little Cheverell, Pottern, Imber or the Vize (Market Lavington, Tilshead, the Cheverells, Potterne and Devizes) may be appointed.
Application in writing may be made to the Clerk to the Trustees at Rose Cottage, High Street, Urchfont, Devizes SN10 4QN on or before the 18th March 2016. Every applicant must state his or her name, address, age and occupation and must be prepared to produce sufficient testimonials and other evidence of his or her qualification for appointment and unless physically disabled to attend in person.
Note. - Almspeople may be required to contribute a small weekly sum towards the cost of maintaining the almshouses of the Charity.
This notice, in the old-fashioned language above, is seeking applicants who may be interested in occupying an almshouse in The Spinney, West Lavington. The property is a single storey, centrally heated building with a double bedroom, living room, bathroom, kitchen and a small garden.
