River Itchen Water Level Management Plan The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works this autumn at Tichborne. The proposed improvement works
involve the stabilisation of the existing flow split upstream from Cheriton Mill grid reference SU 5750 2995, along with some associated river bank protection. By stabilising the flow split,
further erosion of the river bed will be avoided, to ensure that the millstream will continue to receive a proportion of the flow from the main river. This will improve the ecological condition of
the River Itchen Site of Special Scientific Interest along the millstream section and maintain the existing excellent ecological condition through the breached main river channel. Construction is
anticipated to start at the beginning of September and be finished by the end of October. The Environment Agency and Natural England consider that the improvement works will not have significant
negative effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them. The Environment Agency considers the project to be a low risk to the environment
and have voluntarily undertaken a fit for purpose Environmental Impact Assessment in accordance with current best practice procedures. The EIA documents are available on request from the Project
Manager. Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed improvement works should do so, in writing, to the address specified below,
within 28 days of the date of publication of this notice. Joanna Tutton
