Statutory Notice Brighton & Hove City Council School Standards and Framework Act 1998
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, in accordance with the above Act and associated Regulations, of the proposed admission arrangements for maintained schools in Brighton & Hove for the
2013/14 admission year.
Proposed admission arrangements in Brighton and Hove have been prepared by the Council for all Brighton & Hove Community Schools and by the respective Governing Bodies for Voluntary Aided
Schools, Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA) and Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA) for the admission of new pupils in September 2013. In accordance with the provisions of the Act
and associated Regulations, parents of children who have attained the age of 2 but are not above statutory school age and who have been, are, or will be eligible to apply to the school (or schools)
whose admission arrangements are the subject of the consultation, and who are resident in Brighton & Hove, are invited to comment upon the proposed arrangements by 28 February 2012. The
proposed admission arrangements for Community Schools and BACA are available for comment now. The proposed arrangements for Voluntary Aided Schools will be available by 4th January 2012.
The admission arrangements for Community Schools, BACA PACA and Voluntary Aided Schools will be available for inspection on the Brighton & Hove City Council website at
www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/schooladmissions. Copies of the proposed admission arrangements for all the above schools are also available for inspection at the Brighton & Hove City Council Offices,
King’s House, Grand Avenue, Hove, BN3 2SR. Voluntary Aided School admission arrangements as determined by school governing bodies may also be viewed at the individual schools which are listed
below.
The outcome of this consultation process will be reported to the Cabinet Member for Children and Young People for the purpose of determining the final admission arrangements for Community Schools.
Any responses concerning the proposed arrangements for Voluntary Aided Schools in the City will be passed on to their Governing Bodies. Once the Council and the Governing Bodies of Voluntary Aided
Schools, BACA and PACA have determined their admission arrangements for 2013/14 following this consultation, the Council will publish a public notice setting out those arrangements before 1st May
2012. This will enable any person or group entitled to do so to make a formal objection to the Schools Adjudicator. Further details about that process will be included in that public notice.
