UNLAWFUL MEMORIAL NOTICE
The following notice was attached to the memorial on the grave of Mrs Hopkins/Mrs Wilsher in Sible Hedingham Garden of Remembrance.
"UNLESS AN APPLICATION FOR A FACULTY TO PERMIT THESE MEMORIALS TO REMAIN HAS BEEN MADE TO THE REGISTRAR BY 30th NOVEMBER 2011, THE CHANCELLOR WILL (1) THEN ORDER THE MEMORIALS TO BE REMOVED; AND (2) ORDER THE COST OF REMOVAL (LIMITED TO £200) TO BE PAID BY THE PERSON OR PERSONS WHO INSTALLED THE UNLAWFUL MEMORIALS. REGISTRAR OF THE DIOCESE OF CHELMSFORD, MINERVA HOUSE, 5 MONTAGUE CLOSE, LONDON SE1 9BB".
The Chancellor of the Diocese of Chelmsford, G F Pulman QC, has directed the following,
1. Newspaper Advertisement. An advertisement is to be placed in a newspaper circulating in the Sible Hedingham area informing people of the above notice and in particular that an Order to remove
the memorial will be made unless an application for a faculty is successful.
2. Removal of Unlawful Memorial. Unless application is made for a faculty permitting the unlawfully installed memorial on the grave of Mrs Hopkins/Mrs Wilsher before 7th February 2012, the said
memorial is to be removed and disposed of immediately thereafter.
3. An application for a faculty is to be made to the Registrar of the Diocese of Chelmsford, The Registry, Minerva House, 5 Montague Close, London. SE1 9BB
